Detailed Detection And Diagnosis

While we work directly with many patients in Southern Texas through physical therapy, we also pride ourselves on providing impactful answers through detailed diagnostics. Identifying the source of pain or the nature of a debilitating injury after an accident is key, so we always aim to do our diagnostics and imaging within one to three weeks of the accident.

Cervical Spine Injuries:

The top of the spine is particularly vulnerable to whiplash and other impact injuries during car and truck accidents. Persistent neck pain, back pain, and even headaches can be caused by ligament injury and instability that cannot be detected by MRIs and X-rays. This can result in insurers denying or delaying claims when you need them most. Our Vertebral Motion Analysis (VMA) imaging technology and techniques allow us to capture the neck and spines in movement to identify symptoms like ligamentous laxity, which can demonstrate injuries such as AOSMI (Alteration of Motion Segment Integrity).

Lumbar Spine Injuries:

Spinal injuries are not limited to the top of the spine; the lower back or lumbar region of the spine can also be injured during car accidents. It can also be injured in falls or from workplace incidents involving heavy lifting. Sometimes, lumbar spine injuries result in herniated discs or a clean beak. These injuries will show up on X-rays or MRIs. But other times, lower back pain and lower limb pain can indicate harder-to-detect problems, such as a torn or sprained spinal ligament, which requires VMA technology to identify. If undetected and untreated, these injuries can quickly get worse or result in long-term damage or disability.

Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI):

Car accidents, truck wrecks, and other vehicle crashes often involve impacts to the head, as do falls, but head injuries can also occur when the brain is “shaken” against the skull, even without a direct impact. Headaches and other symptoms of serious brain injuries are often dismissed by insurers, but they might be indicators of Traumatic Brain Injuries or TBIs. Our brains are precious and fragile, so detecting brain injuries is vital but not always easy. We provide clarity and detailed documented evidence of Traumatic Brain Injuries by using the NeuroCatch technology for comprehensive TBI detection and evaluation. These results can make all the difference in detecting brain injuries early, identifying treatment options and priorities, and helping an insurer or jury take your injury seriously.

Joint And Extremity Injuries:

While our primary focus is on the spine and brain, we also have considerable experience working with extremity injuries, such as rotator cuffs or meniscus tears. Such injuries can be caused by repetitive stress injuries (such as in the workplace), sudden shocks (as in accidents) or by falling and catching yourself on your arms or knees. We will help ensure that these injuries do not go undetected or incorrectly diagnosed so that you can improve your chances of a full medical and financial recovery. Our physical therapists will also help you recover the use and motion of any joints or limbs after accidents or surgeries, which can be essential to restoring the full range of motion.
